- This is the rescue rehabilitation and release of Cobba the Joey
Kissin Kangaroos
This montage features Cobba the orphan joey cared for by my family and I and shows alot about the reward raising an orphan can bring. Especially when you get to see them go free , back to where they belong . Saying goodbye to Cobba who came to us at 2.3kgs was very difficult but also worth it in the long run it took about 8 months from arrival to release. We raised him to a healthy some might say robust! 9.5kgs, pre-releasing him into the very capable hands of John and Mandy of Uralla where he was prepared for release, and now has been successfully released. We have visited with him and for now he still remembers us but the good thing is he's showing stronger signs on every visit that he is more attached to his Kangaroo mob than us his adopted mob. Cobba was released on ANZAC DAY 2009. We miss him but we LOVE that he is free and back in the wild with other kangaroos where he belongs. We felt sad that his mother was killedbut also privelidged to have had him accept us into his life even if only for a brief time.
